FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CEO CHANGING THE FACE OF BUSINESS LEADERSHIP

Thomas Hill III, CEO of Kimray, INC., shares his story of demise and recovery in new book

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK., APRIL 27, 2018 - As an “addict leader," Thomas Hill found himself using power, success, and control as a type of drug. In his new book, Recovering Leadership, Hill tells the story of his struggles with addictive and controlling behaviors that ultimately led him and the company he leads to a “dead end.”

Hill believes that, while not as immediately destructive as drug or alcohol abuse, addict leaders exhibit similar behaviors that damage themselves and the people around them. As with all addictions, addict leadership left unchecked will lead to death—including death of relationships and company culture.

Hill grew up in a high-performing family, which shaped his belief that people are worth only what they can accomplish. This sent him on a long and unfulfilling journey of pursuing success by constantly doing bigger and better things. Life eventually spun out of control, and Hill hit rock bottom. Unfortunately, this meant Kimray hit rock bottom at the same time.

“Hitting rock bottom and having an intervention event occur in your life creates a door—a door in the wall that once held you prisoner, captive to your destructive behaviors. If you’re an addict leader, the wall surrounding you was built using a faulty belief system.

Through significant pain and loss, Hill began the long and difficult road of recovery that transformed his life and leadership. Today, he enjoys sharing his story with others who can benefit from the lessons he has learned. Hill is committed to carrying the message of Recovering Leadership to other “addict leaders” and practicing these principles in daily life.
